Dr. Ohayon is Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Stanford University. He is the Director of the Stanford Sleep Epidemiology Research Center and the Chairman of the EVAL Research Institute (EVALRI) and the Institute for Orphan and Rare Diseases (IFORD). He is a physician, psychiatrist and Sleep Specialist. He has a Doctorate (DSc/PhD) in Mathematics and Computer Sciences. He also got his PhD in Biology at the Claude-Bernard University with Pr. Jouvet and Dr Valax. He has published more than 350 publications and he wrote 5 books in psychiatry, computer sciences and sleep medicine.
His research aims to develop the epidemiology of sleep, neurology and psychiatry in the general population.
He has developed several artificial intelligence tools including the EVAL/AdInfer© system. He was one the first computer scientists using deep learning with the Bayesian theorem and the Mathematics of Zadeh implementing the Fuzzy Logic in neural networks.
He is the Editor-in-Chief of Sleep Epidemiology, an Elsevier Journal and Editor-in-Chief of the Stanford Sleep Epidemiology Journal. He is also associate editor of numerous Journals and executive member of NSF board.
